The first time I heard Trod by ZOOLOOK I instantly vibed with it and started freestyling Tenor Saw’s Lots of Signs:
 
Life is one big road, with a lot of signs

I couldn’t get the heavy bassline out of my head and that spooky vibe of night time road trip eeriness. ZOOLOOK is one of the producers I highly respect and always take advice from. We both feel the love and inspiration from Dubmatix and it means a lot to have been able to remix both these producers with my partner Marius Costache at Studio148. We aimed to create a dancehall hip-hop soundtrack for modern times and the dread and pressure we get from living in Bucharest Babylon.

ZOOLOOK and the IRIE Mag community from San Francisco have been great supporters of the Obeah and collaborators sounds and visions and I feel it coming full circle now with the release of this Trod Signs (Drive Redub). I imagine it being played late at night on pirate radio on the freeway making it past dark forests and cloudy skies. Really looking forward to ZOOLOOKs upcoming album!

Nicholas Da Silva, known professionally as ZOOLOOK, is a multidisciplinary artist and musician. ZOOLOOK is currently working on a new dub reggae album and animated music video series, Stonefrenge: Black in Space. ZOOLOOK is also the founder and Editor-in-Chief of IRIE Magazine. ZOOLOOK is now pursuing a film degree to write, direct and produce Dread & Alive into a feature film. Trod was the first track for the series, followed by Soul Rebel Dub.
